General Machine Products adds operations director for China

Feb. 5, 2003--Now working out of GMP's recently opened Shanghai office, Wei Zeng was formerly a project manager with a Chinese health service.

General Machine Products Co. (GMP--www.gmptools.com) named Wei Zeng as its director of operations for China. Working out of GMP's newly opened office in Shanghai, Zeng will lead the company's ongoing marketing efforts in offering its cable-placement equipment and tools to China's communications and power-utility market.

Zeng previously served in Shanghai as assistant director and senior consultant for Goldenleaf Associates, and as project manager for the National Hygiene and Quarantine Service of China.

William Pfundt, GMP's president and chief executive officer, says that Zeng's firsthand knowledge of Chinese commerce "will be invaluable in meeting the needs of GMP's customers in that part of the world."

GMP says its tools are already in use by China Telecom, China Netcom, China Unicom, the State Administration for Radio, Film and Television, and China railway communications.
