TL 9000 Quality Standards

March 5, 2001 General Cable has received TL 9000 quality standards registration and Sumitomo Electric Lightwave has received TL 9000 certification.

General Cable (www.generalcable.com) has received TL 9000 quality standards registration for its telecommunications cable manufacturing facility in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (www.sumitomoelectric.com) has received TL 9000 certification covering both its RTP and Whiteville manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. Developed by the Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications (QuEST) Forum, the TL 9000 quality system is based on the ISO 9000 program with added telecommunications-specific performance metrics. The TL 9000 system also supplements ISO 9000 in product reliability, specialized installation, and engineering service functions and requirements that address continued communication between suppliers and their telecommunications customers.
