August 6, 2001 Intertek Testing Services' ETL Semko, Americas division, has introduced a Cabling System Channel/Link Verification program.

August 6, 2001 Intertek Testing Services' ETL Semko (www.etlsemko.com), Americas division, introduced a Cabling System Channel/Link Verification program designed to test and verify performance of manufacturers' cabling products and connectivity hardware in a LAN environment. Superior Essex (www.superioressex.com) is the first to receive channel verification for its Category 5e and Category 6 cabling systems.

ITS ETL Semko tests manufacturers' products in a channel environment to verify performance to the TIA/EIA 568-B and ISO/IEC 11801 standards. Through tests, such as data transmission performance, structural return loss, near-end crosstalk (NEXT), power-sum near-end crosstalk (PSNEXT), equal-level far-end crosstalk (ELFEXT), and power-sum equal-level far-end crosstalk (PSELFEXT), interoperability between cabling products and connectivity hardware to Category 5e and Category 6 specification are proven.

Superior Essex submitted eight cables to be tested in 58 different configurations with products from multiple connectivity manufacturers. ITS ETL Semko verified the performance of all configurations and awarded Superior Essex the ETL Verified mark.
