Startup connector maker acquires Thomas & Betts product line

October 10, 2001 Connectors for Networking, headed by three former T&B employees, purchases the OMNI family of twisted-pair connecting hardware.

Connector manufacturer startup Connectors for Networking of Tustin, CA has purchased the OMNI connectivity product line from cable management manufacturer Thomas & Betts www.tnb.com of Memphis, TN.

CFN, which is led by three former Thomas & Betts employees, purchased all the molds and the OMNI identity. Steve Reed, CFNs director of sales and marketing, says the OMNI products are its sole manufacturing line. The line includes UTP and ScTP jacks for Category 3, 5e, and 6 installations, outlets for up to six ports, and 16-, 32-, 48- and 64-port patch panels.

Thomas & Betts has recently spun off what it considers products which no longer fit its refocused niche--the expanding market for broadband communications infrastructure.
