May 23, 2001 Microtest Inc. (www.microtest.com), a manufacturer of premise network cable testers, has developed the OMNIScanner LT to gain entrance to the growing residential networking market. The entrance of classic electrical contractors into the data communications business worldwide and growth in residential networking is creating new opportunities for more affordable cable certification tools. New standards for residential cabling, such as the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA—Arlington, VA)-570A standard, require installers to fully certify the cabling to the same exacting standards as commercial premises.

Exceeding proposed 250 MHz Level III accuracy requirements, OMNIScanner LT has a dynamic range of 100 dB that allows advanced S-Band cable and connector diagnostics. It is also compliant with today's national cabling standards and all the new link definitions. The tester can be kept up-to-date via free software downloads from the company's website.
