August 25, 2008 -- StarDot's line of NetCam SC high definition megapixel IP cameras is now supported by Milestone Systems' XProtect IP video management platform. StarDot Technologies, a California-based designer and manufacturer of network video hardware, is an official manufacturer alliance partner of Milestone, a developer of open platform IP video management software.

Milestone says its integration of the NetCam SC cameras provides value to customers by giving them significantly more visual data than a standard IP or CCTV camera. The combination of StarDot and Milestone enables capture of detailed video of faces, license plates and monetary transactions.

A particularly strong need for high definition video is coming from the homeland security sector, and megapixel IP cameras are also a popular choice for banking, transportation and retail applications, maintains Milestone. StarDot's always-on hybrid functionality eases the transition from the analog world of CCTV cameras to the digital world of IP cameras.

"We're excited to have our megapixel technology supported by the Milestone platform," says Vance Kozik, product manager for StarDot. "The XProtect software provides an easy-to-manage interface to our cameras, including digital pan/tilt/zoom functionality, which allows a single megapixel camera to replace several traditional CCTV cameras."

"Milestone is very pleased to cooperate with StarDot. The Milestone software platform and the 5 megapixel StarDot camera is a very compelling combination, satisfying customers' demands for high resolution images at fast frame rates, with powerful and sophisticated features," adds Henrik Friborg, VP of strategic alliances and co-founder of Milestone Systems.
