September 11, 2008 -- Event organizers today announced the return of the SuperComm brand with the launch of SuperComm 2009, to be held in Chicago from June 8-11, 2009. NXTcomm's co-owners, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), say they are bringing back the successful SuperComm brand to "reflect a new industry, a new economy, and a new world of communications."

"This change marks a new era for SuperComm," say the event organizers in a jointly issued statement. "We are re-establishing this event due to popular demand and structuring it to better serve today's 21st century communications providers and partners. Broadband and the applications and solutions enabled by it hold the key to the future of communications, and we are well positioned to meet the needs of this marketplace."

SuperComm 2009 is co-owned by TIA and the USTelecom, the two organizations who owned and produced SuperComm for 18 years. In July of 2005, the organizations parted ways, and the following year, each produced its own tradeshow. The TIA touted GlobalComm as a replacement to SuperComm, while USTelecom debuted an expanded version of its existing telecom show, dubbed TelecomNEXT. That divorce proved short-lived, as the two organizations joined forces again in 2007 for NXTcomm.
