High-speed I/O cabling supports up to 120 Gb/s bandwidth for both copper, fiber-optic media

Interconnect systems supplier FCI has launched its XLerate line of high-speed I/O cabling products.

Interconnect systems supplier FCI has launched its XLerate line of high-speed I/O cabling products. Available to support data speeds ranging from 10-Gb/s up to 120-Gb/s, the cables are available in both copper and fiber-optic options with various industry standard-compliant interfaces, making them a good fit for data center, high-performance computing, and switching applications.

Supporting both Infiniband and Ethernet protocols, the XLerate cabling is plug-and-play, with active optical cables (AOC) providing a closed optical system for both worker safety, as well as to protect the cable from dust contamination. According to FCI, the assemblies are 100 percent final-tested, assembled in a clean room environment, and provide optimum signal integrity for aggregated bandwidth up to 150 Gb/s.

FCI says the XLerate product line's simplified design provides for a limited number of discrete components in the link; additionally, the company notes that the series allows installers, OEMs and VARs to apply to one source for the connectors, EMI cages, transceivers and optical and copper cable assemblies they require.

“FCI’s XLerate I/O cabling solutions provide the highest bandwidth per port and the highest hardware faceplate port density,” comments Rob Poort, general manager, optical solutions group, FCI. “We’re now the first and only supplier that can offer a complete and complementary portfolio of active optical cables and transceivers and passive copper elements.”
