BICSI announces new education-based program model
BICSI has announced a new education-based program model debuting in Salt Lake City, Utah, in April.
ITS Academies is designed to expand learning and networking opportunities by combining traditional classes with education-based evening experiences. Participants who register for any individual class held during an academy receive complimentary enrollment to evening events. In addition, BICSI members are welcome to attend the academy evening events without charge, even without registering for the classes.
"Every day will provide the excellent course content our members and attendees have come to expect from BICSI," says Ellen Maiara, manager of operations, BICSI Professional Development and Credentialing. "Evenings will offer a more informal schedule of professional development and networking events. We created the ITS Academies to allow organizations to take full advantage of their training dollar investment."
Evening activities vary from location to location and may include dinner discussions based on hot topics of attendees' choice; tours of local ITS facilities; career development workshops; updates of BICSI products, services and events; as well as vendor presentations and certification opportunities.
The Salt Lake City ITS Academy is hosted by the Salt Lake Community College. This academy event will feature ITS Installer 1 Training, Introduction to Voice/Data Cabling Systems, Designing Networks, Introduction to Customer-Owned Outside Plant, Outside Plant Site Survey and Media Selection, and Project Leadership classes. In addition, the academy will feature exams for RCDDs, and the NTS, OSP and WD specialties. The evening events are scheduled to begin after 5:30 p.m.
