TIA holds elections for committee on premises cabling

March 6, 2006 - TR-42 is responsible for commercial, industrial and residential cabling standards including telecommunications infrastructure administration.

Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42 Engineering Committee on Premises Telecommunications Cabling organized and held elections during the week of Feb. 2 for Committee TR-42 and for Subcommittees TR-42.2 Residential Telecommunications Infrastructure, TR-42.6 Telecommunications Infrastructure and Equipment Administration, and TR-42.8 Telecommunications Optical Fiber Cabling Systems.

Herb Congdon, Tyco Inc., was elected chairman of TR-42 and Robert Jensen, Fluke Networks, as vice-chairman. John Pryma, Genesis Cable Systems, was elected as chairman of TR-42.2 and Tom Boucino, CommScope, as vice-chairman. For TR-42.6, Steve Huffaker, Morgan Stanley, was designated as chairman and Jonathan Jew, J&M Consultants, Inc., as vice-chairman. Jensen was also elected as chairman of TR-42.8 and Julie Roy, C2 Consultants, as vice-chairwoman.

TR-42 is responsible for commercial, industrial and residential cabling standards including telecommunications infrastructure administration, pathways and spaces, and copper and optical fiber systems requirements. These standards include information and requirements necessary for implementing telecommunications infrastructure.

The TIA thanked the previous chairmen and vice-chairmen for their dedication and efforts in developing valuable cabling standards. The association congratulates the new officers on their leadership positions.
