Graybar, a distributor of electrical and communications products and related supply chain management and logistics services, has opened a 75,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Wallingford, CT.

Located at 25 Research Parkway, the facility stocks more than $8 million of inventory, says the company, and includes a central service department, full-service counter, and "will-call service" under one roof. The facility also has 12 trucks for local delivery, as well as providing wire management capabilities and 24-hour emergency service. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility's phone number is (203) 284-4500.

With the opening of the Wallingford location, Graybar now maintains three locations serving Connecticut, including counters in Hamden and Hartford. The Wallingford location now houses sales and business personnel from the other two locations. A previous location on Huyshope Avenue in Hartford was sold to the city of Hartford, with that facility's counter operation relocated to 227 Brainard Road in Hartford.

"The opening of this new location means that we can stock significantly more inventory and offer additional service capabilities for our customers," comments Peter Elkas, district vice president of Graybar's Boston district. "The new facility will also be instrumental in replenishing the inventories of the Hartford and Hamden counter locations."

An open house from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 27 marked the official opening of the Wallingford facility. At the event, more than 80 suppliers, including Allen Tel, Hubbell Premise Wiring, Panduit and Thomas & Betts, exhibited product and service platforms.

The open house, which was attended by Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson, also offered raffle drawings for prizes and trip packages, a live car cutting with Lenox Team Hackman, and a chance to win a Mini Cooper automobile provided by Cooper Industries. Technology seminars were also offered throughout the day.

Leading the Graybar Wallingford location is branch manager Nelson Eddy, who along with customer service manager Hanrahan has more than 25 years with the company. The company says it employs 85 people in Connecticut.
