September 7, 2006 -- Legrand says the move positions it as one of North America's top providers of control and automation systems.

September 7, 2006 -- Legrand has announced its acquisition of Vantage Controls, a manufacturer of automated control and dimming systems for residential and commercial applications.

Headquartered in Orem, Utah, Vantage Controls has been renamed Vantage/Legrand, and becomes Legrand's sixth North American business group. Legrand says the acquisition makes it one of the continent's top providers of control and automation solutions.

According to Legrand, Vantage/Legrand offers a powerful means to integrate lighting, audio/video, window treatments, heating, cooling, security, and other functions into one central system. Legrand contends that the combined company is well-positioned for expansion, as consumer demand for control and automation increases in residential and commercial markets.

"Lighting control and automation are seeing significant double-digit growth, and this acquisition ensures we have the increased capacity, expanded product lines, and sales channels to meet the growing demand," comments John Selldorff, president and CEO of Legrand North America.

"Legrand North America will enable Vantage/Legrand to accelerate market reach and growth," adds Ron Wilson, president of Vantage/Legrand. "There are expansion opportunities through Legrand North America's established and emerging channels, partners, and markets. We'll leverage best practices, and international expansion is anticipated, especially in collaboration with Legrand's Bticino business, headquartered in Italy."

Headquartered in Limoges, France, Legrand is a worldwide specialist in providing products and systems for low-voltage electrical installations and data networks. The company provides platforms for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Headquartered in West Hartford, Connecticut, Legrand North America is a business of Legrand whose businesses include: On-Q/Legrand, a provider of structured wiring infrastructure and a developer of home communications and entertainment systems; Ortronics/Legrand, a manufacturer of premise wiring connectivity products; Pass & Seymour/Legrand, a manufacturer of electrical and network wiring devices; Watt Stopper/Legrand, a provider of energy management and lighting control products; and Wiremold/Legrand, a provider of wire management and cabling systems.
