Panduit launches LC Opticam pre-polished fiber connectors
June 16, 2006 -- The company says the connectors incorporate patent-pending re-termination capability to provide field termination in less than half the time of field polished connectors.
Panduit has introduced its LC Opticam pre-polished fiber-optic connectors, which the company says incorporate patent-pending re-termination capability to provide field termination in less than half the time of field polished connectors, with yield rates approaching 100%.
The connectors include the rear pivot latch featured on all Panduit LC small form factor connectors, for flexibility in behind-the-wall, main, and intermediate cross-connect installations. The company says the connectors' factory pre-polished fiber stub endface eliminates field polishing to reduce installation costs, labor, scrap, and the number of tools required. The connector's dual cam design secures both the fiber and buffer in one action to ensure consistent termination results while reducing termination time.
The LC Opticam pre-polished connectors are also compatible with the company's Opticam termination tool, which incorporates an integrated visual fault locator (VFL) for visual indication of proper termination after the cam step has been completed.
