The Ethernet Alliance, an industry group dedicated to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology, has announced its participation at Globalcomm 2006, to be held June 4 - 8, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
At the show, Brad Booth, president of the Ethernet Alliance and director of advanced products for Quake Technologies, and Blaine Kohl, vice president of marketing for the Ethernet Alliance and vice president of marketing for Tehuti Networks, will co-present a talk entitled "Using 10 Gigabit Ethernet in Volume Applications."
The gist of the presentation, according to a press release from the Ethernet Alliance, is as follows:
"Two challenges exist as 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) is extended beyond its initial role. Achieving 10 Gbit/sec on copper unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling is a significant technical achievement. Meeting the application's requirements for low power is also needed for 10GBASE-T, more commonly known as 10-GbE over UTP cabling, to meet its full potential. This presentation will provide an overview of what the 802.3an standard is and how 10GBASE-T products are expected to be introduced and evolve in the marketplace."
The presentation will be delivered on Monday, June 5 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m at UNH-IOL's booth # 42094, at Globalcomm's "Interoperability in Action" area.
