August 30, 2007 -- Leviton has introduced its pre-terminated, factory-tested copper trunk cable assemblies, designed for fast, simplified data center installations.

The products are custom-configured in pre-engineered lengths using connectors to meet the specific needs of each application. By shifting much of the assembly work to the factory, the pre-terminated copper trunks offer significantly reduced installation time, contends the company.

The copper trunks utilize the company's standard QuickPort jacks, compatible with its full line of QuickPort panels. Use of standardized panels allows trunks to be installed alongside individual cable runs or other media types.

The assemblies are offered in both UTP and shielded versions in Cat 6A, Cat 6, and Cat 5e media. All UTP jacks utilize the company's patented Retention Force Technology (RFT) for consistent long-term connections. Plug terminations feature the company's SlimLine plug with "snagless" strain relief boot.

Each trunk assembly bears a unique serial number, with individual cables numbered relative to that serial number. A braided sleeve bundles individual cables into an aesthetic and cohesive trunk assembly while an included pulling eye protects terminations during shipment and installation.

The pre-terminated cable assemblies are 100% factory tested, and are eligible for the Leviton Lifetime Product and System Performance Warranty without any additional on-site field-testing.

MTP to MTP fiber trunk cable assemblies

Seperately, the company also recently announced its Quick Ship program for delivering its custom-made MTP to MTP fiber trunk cable assemblies with reduced shipping time.

According to a press release, the company can now build and ship up to 144-fiber count custom length multimode and singlemode MTP to MTP fiber trunk cable assemblies in five working days after receipt of purchase order.
