August 24, 2007 -- HD Communications Corp. has introduced its HD24613 wireless access point, which includes a PoE injector and is designed to install in walls via a standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable.

The access point installs in a single gang box; the company also offers a low-voltage install ring as an option. The unit incorporates a front-located RJ45 jack for a wired connection. The company says the unit is ideal for institutions that are already wired for Cat 5 but who also require wireless connectivity.

The HD24613 is priced at $199 and is set to ship at the end of August. For large installations, the company also offers a PoE switch to support up to 24 in-wall access points.
