August 13, 2007 -- Timbercon Inc. has introduced a 250-km network simulation module designed as a platform for improved test and measurement of fiber networks, test equipment, and optical subsystems requiring extended fiber channel lengths.
The company bills its 250-km network simulation module as "the longest single-chassis network simulation module on the market, requiring less physical rack space requirements and eliminating the daisy chaining of multiple modules previously necessary to achieve longer length simulation channels."
"The 250-km network simulation module has been developed as a solution for applications requiring extended distance fiber links," remarks John J. Lee, vice president at Timbercon Inc. "Using traditional network simulation boxes, it may take several boxes daisy chained together to achieve the same distance available in a single 250-km Timbercon network simulation module."
Timbercon says the 250-km network simulation module is available with "any number" of channels and a variety of fiber and connector types. For shorter fiber-length requirements, the company offers network simulation modules in lengths from 100 m to 200 km.
The company notes that all of its network simulation modules are customizable, allowing each module to be designed and built to emulate "virtually any" network or scenario. Popular options, according to the company, include specific events at defined locations (distances), multiple connection types, multiple channels with varied lengths, or a combination of all of these.
