September 19, 2007 -- Leviton Voice & Data has expanded its Shielded Connectivity product line to include complete Cat 6A, Cat 6, and Cat 5e shielded systems.

The company's Cat 6A Shielded Connectivity System is third-party independently verified by ETL to support a 4-connector, 100 m channel. The system exceeds all electrical parameters and alien crosstalk requirements in TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10 Augmented Category 6 (Cat 6A) and ISO 11801 Ed. 2.1 Class EA cabling standards. The system also exceeds IEEE 802.3an (10GBase-T) performance requirements for support of 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications.

While minimizing alien crosstalk in shielded applications, the company says the system allows customers to combine 10GBase-T performance with advanced security, EMI/RFI protection, and electrical performance beyond 500 MHz. The system supports current Cat 5e and Cat 6 network applications and provides a migration path toward future 10G network requirements.

Each category-rated fully-shielded system includes a durable, die-cast connector which requires no punch-down tool, and a stranded patch cord for longer "flex life." The unloaded 24-port 1RU shielded patch panel is nickel plated for improved grounding and accepts all Leviton shielded connectors.

The company says its shielded connectivity products support applications where security is a priority including government, Department of Defense, health care, manufacturing and other industrialized environments.
