September 20, 2007 -- D-Link has joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA).

September 20, 2007 -- D-Link Systems Inc. announced its membership in the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), the trade association that promotes the distribution of digital video, data, and entertainment applications through existing coaxial cable in homes.

D-Link designs, develops and manufactures networking, broadband, digital electronics, voice, data and video communications products for the digital home, SOHO, SMB and larger enterprise markets. The company's products span a variety of technologies from wireline to wireless, and are based on prevailing and accepted industry standards.

"MoCA is rapidly becoming recognized in the consumer arena and represents a powerful technology that complements our existing line of home networking solutions for the digital home," comments D-Link's chief technology officer, AJ Wang.

MoCA, which operates under reasonable and non-discriminatory licensing (RAND) terms, provides backbone technology for whole home entertainment networks of multiple wired and wireless products, according to MoCA president Charlie Cerino.

"Our strategy has consistently aimed at embracing industry partners committed to make the networking life of the average consumer less confusing and time-consuming," says Cerino. "D-Link's membership is continued proof that MoCA's philosophy of 'ease of use, no new wires, and product availability through retail outlets' [represents] a standard on the move."
