September 7, 2007 -- BICSI announced that it was recently approved to provide continuing education and training through the Registered Continuing Education Providers Program (RCEPP). RCEPP is a comprehensive education management system for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
With the RCEPP designation, BICSI will help to provide leadership in professional licensure of engineers and land surveyors through excellence in uniform laws, licensing standards, and professional ethics. Such licensure is important for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare, and to shape the future of professional licensure while also promoting quality and consistency in engineering and surveying continuing education and training, according to BICSI.
"We realized there was a want and need for our association to provide continuing education courses to professionals who may be involved with several different organizations, not just BICSI," says Richard Dunfee, RCDD/NTS specialist, director of professional development for BICSI. "At BICSI we value our members and the other designations they may have."
A merger of continuing education providers and engineers, surveyors, and design professionals into one system, RCEPP ranks itself among the nation's first online continuing education management system for professional engineers and surveyors. BICSI will provide both live and interactive distance education activities for RCEPP throughout the U.S.
(In addition to being accredited through RCEPP, BICSI notes that it is also recognized by the International Certification Accreditation Council (ICAC). The ICAC is an alliance of organizations dedicated to assuring competency, professional management, and service to the public by encouraging and setting standards for licensing, certification, and credentialing programs internationally.)
