June 19, 2007 -- Artisan Laboratories Corp. and The Fiber Optic Marketplace, LLC (FiberOptic.com) announced that FiberOptic.com will be the master distributor for Artisan's Sidelighter, a product that pairs with RF analyzers to measure distance to fault in optical fiber networks.
According to the agreement, U.S. distribution of the Sidelighter will be controlled through the FiberOptic.com Website, sales force and sub-distribution channels.
"We are very excited to launch the sale efforts for the Sidelighter," comments FiberOptic.com president Chris LaBonge. "This revolutionary product bridges the gap between RF and fiber, and delivers a viable solution for contractors and military customers."
The Sidelighter connects directly to most RF and microwave signal analyzers (such as Anritsu's Site Master, VNA Master, and Scorpion Vector network analyzers) to locate and identify faults and failures in fiber-optic cables and connectors. According to Artisan, the Sidelighter eliminates the "dead-zone" associated with optical time domain reflectometers (OTDRs) and easily tests both RF and fiber-optic cables with one system.
"[We] approached FiberOptic.com to distribute the product because they are a leader of distribution in the rapidly growing online telecommunications market and will create instant global visibility for the Sidelighter and future products," explains Dr. Arthur C. Paolella, founder and CEO of Artisan Labs and inventor of the Sidelighter. "They have strong sales and marketing talents and are widely respected for their distribution model."
The companies will jointly showcase the Sidelighter at trade shows this summer.
