April 2, 2007 -- Fiber Connect, a Leviton company, has introduced a high-density fiber enclosure developed specifically to support Cisco's MDS 9513 matrix switch.

The MDS 9513 switch is commonly used to address the mission critical requirements of large data center storage area networks (SANs). In order to accommodate the high density switch, Fiber Connect designed a unique blade configuration in the enclosure that allows users to make a like-for-like connection into the switch. This configuration allows users to connect their fiber cabling into their Cisco switch quickly and accurately, says the company.

The rack mount enclosure will support up to 288 fiber channels in 8U of rack space. Because the customizable enclosure can be supplied in direct connect or MTP configurations, it caters especially to the unique nature of specialized data center infrastructure applications, according to the company.
