May 30, 2007 -- Open platform IP video software provider Milestone Systems (Copenhagen, Denmark) has announced the release of its XProtect Professional version 6.0, which incorporates Windows OS authorization and authentication to provide a single point of user administration.

Built on the same design as the company's XProtect Enterprise IP video software, version 6.0 enables access to advanced video management functionality via a "Smart Client" that allows viewing of up to 64 cameras at once, while incorporating features such as smart search, timeline browsing, digital zoom, Hot Spot and carousel windows, matrix plug-in, and others. The result, says Milestone, is a better overview of and faster response to security incidences.

XProtect Professional 6.0 also runs as a Windows service, meaning that the main surveillance engine can be "locked up" in a server room and accessed remotely, so that no one can steal or tamper with video evidence undetected, says the company.

"XProtect Professional 6.0 is one of the best offers available on the market for customers requiring a robust, full-blown surveillance system on a single server," comments Kim Macallan, head of product management at Milestone Systems.

The software is available with multiple language support in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Danish and Japanese. (Language support applies to the software's Administrator, Smart Client and Remote Client interfaces, as well as a software manual.)

The software accommodates a range of network hardware for surveillance installations, including about 300 models from more than 30 manufacturers, according to Milestone.
