May 30, 2007 -- Westek Electronics, Inc. (Santa Cruz, CA), a provider of telecommunications cords, cables and test assemblies, has introduced its "guaranteed unbreakable" long latch modular L-plug with snagless boot, dubbed "The Snagless L-Plug."

The company says the Snagless L-Plug stays tightly and securely in port and is as easy to lock and unlock as a traditional L-plug. The company says the newly patented product was designed and engineered to protect the jack lever from snagging surrounding cables or equipment, rendering the connector unbreakable.

The snagless boot is available in RJ-45 CAT5e configuration and is soon to be available in CAT6. The product has a cable rating of up to 350 MHz and utilizes 50-micron gold contacts with a UL 94V-0 rating.

"We've designed a plug that has forever resolved the problems associated with exposed levers," contends Kevin Larkin, president of Westek Electronics. "Anyone who has dealt with a tangle of cables or a broken lever knows how frustrating, time consuming and costly this can be."
