The International Firestop Council (www.firestop.org) has appointed Valerie Wolford co-chair of its education committee. She joins Phil Zanghi, also committee co-chair.

In her role as education committee co-chair, Wolford oversees the organization's marketing and public relations activities. The council's educational committee is also responsible for developing resources such as brochures, training seminars, and inspection manuals that are geared toward educating code and building officials about passive fire protection.

Wolford is the North American marketing manager at Tremco Fire Protection Systems Group (www.tremcofirestop.com); she holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from Kent State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Akron.

The International Firestop Council was founded in 1990 as a not-for-profit organization of industry experts committed to making buildings safer through passive fire containment. Its membership includes manufacturers, distributors, and users of passive fir-protection materials and systems. The group promotes passive fire containment through awareness, education, and development of codes and standards.
