Avaya placed first in worldwide enterprise IP telephony revenue for third quarter

Avaya Inc. has extended its footprint in enterprise Internet Protocol telephony for a fourth consecutive quarter.

The new market information, reported by industry analyst firm Synergy Research Group, places Avaya No. 1 in worldwide enterprise IP telephony revenue and IP telephony lines shipped in the third quarter of 2004, the most recent quarter measured.

Synergy's latest report shows Avaya with 25% market share in worldwide enterprise IP telephony revenue for the third quarter of 2004. It also shows Avaya with 25% of worldwide enterprise IP telephony lines shipped, a figure that is 6 percentage points above the company's nearest competitor. Both revenue and lines shipped serve as key metrics for measuring leadership in the global IP telephony industry.

According to the Synergy report, Avaya's growth in worldwide enterprise IP telephony continued to accelerate and outpace the industry in the third quarter of 2004. Avaya grew its total IP telephony lines shipped by 112% in the third quarter of 2004 compared to the same quarter of last year. The overall IP telephony market grew by 76% for the same period.
