Dropping data center knowledge

A panel led by Siemon Company addressed transforming the on-prem data center.

The two Cabling Innovators Awards Siemon Company picked up at the BICSI 2021 Fall Conference relate to the deployment and management of high-performance cabling systems in data centers. In addition to earning those honors, Siemon experts educated conference attendees about data center transformation. Siemon’s Gary Bernstein led a discussion titled “Getting Unstuck—Why and How It’s Time to Transform Your On-Prem Data Center.” Bernstein was joined by Siemon’s McKenzie Hughes as well as QTS Data Centers’ Darryl Cox and TDS’s Steve Gunderson for the discussion. “Enterprise data center owners and operators today are being charged with the task of creating a truly connected, highly profitable enterprise and achieving business longevity via digital transformation,” the group said when describing its discussion. “At the same time, they are challenged with ensuring sustainability, disaster recovery, reduced risk, control and visibility, and meeting capex and opex goals. But with limited on-prem compute resources, inflexible infrastructure, and a lack of understanding about how to best leverage the myriad available and evolving solutions and services, many are struggling to determine the most effective business strategy and model. In other words, they are stuck. From infrastructure and solutions, to services, business strategies, and partner ecosystems, this panel of data center experts provides insight into how enterprise data center owners and operators can effectively get unstuck and truly achieve digital transformation.”
