ISE 2024: Macnica Plans to Launch AV Over IP Gateway Solely for IPMX

Jan. 8, 2024
Macnica’s MEG1 is being released in advance for when IPMX product developers plan on bringing their products to market.

What Macnica is unveiling

After several years of being actively involved in the development of IPMX products and standards, Macnica will be introducing the AV industry’s first gateway solely for the IPMX suite of standards at ISE 2024. Macnica will showcase its MEG1 IPMX to HDMI AV over IP ethernet gateway at the event at Stand 5G800 in the Fira Barcelona, Gran Via from January 30th to February 3rd. The gateway is “a 1Gb/s solution that provides a direct ramp to IPMX product development for ProAV and broadcast equipment manufacturers.”

Details on the MEG1 and insight into IPMX

The MEG1 “supports low-latency, synchronized transport of 4K60 4:4:4 video, audio and data, including KVM and PoE support.” The gateway is best suited for lab-based research, development, and testing initiatives for IP product developers planning to bring IPMX solutions to market. The MEG1 supports all features needed for IP interoperability, including device discovery, USB and serial extension, strong network performance, JPEG-XS compression, and subframe latency.

Regarding bandwidth, Macnica’s MEG1 can send or receive IPMX compliant video streams at up to 800 Mb/s over a 1Gb connection. It also has a competitive power profile for PoE devices and features a scripting environment that allows for freedom for feature development and automation.

Andrew Starks, Director of Product Management of Macnica, notes that the IPMX suite of standards is close to ratification. Starks said, “This month’s Testing Event will help to clear the deck for preparation of final draft documents that must be reviewed and approved prior to official ratification. We anticipate heading into ISE with a clear vision of what lies ahead for IPMX, and the release of our MEG1 gateway is ideally timed to help IPMX product developers rapidly bring their products to market in the weeks and months following ratification.”
