Recently at ISC, Moxa unveiled the new flagship of its IP network video surveillance family: the VPort 66-2MP.

Recently at ISC, the new flagship product of Moxa's IP network video surveillance family was unveiled : the VPort 66-2MP. The 1080p PTZ dome camera has been specifically designed for mission-critical video surveillance applications in harsh environments for industries including energy, transportation, oil and gas, and factory automation, as well as in challenging outdoor locations. Moxa presented a fully operational VPort 66-2MP unit at the ISC show, with final technical specs on display.

The industrial-grade VPort 66-2MP features a vandal-proof design, along with IP66 rain and dust protection, an operating temperature of -40° F to 204° F, and a NEMA 4X type form factor to assure absolute reliability in helping to protect people, secure property and maintain safe, efficient processes, asserts Moxa. Unlike standard cameras, the VPort 66-2MP is able to operate outdoors without requiring an external housing and blower, significantly reducing the potential points of failure while saving both power and space.

"Achieving truly reliable video surveillance in harsh environments has been extremely difficult and costly for a long time. Our engineers have spent years developing the technology to address this growing customer need, and I'm extremely proud to present the VPort 66-2MP today," said Jei Mercado, product marketing manager for Moxa. "When it comes to the immediate recognition of security threats in harsh environments, there is no more reliable camera than the VPort 66-2MP."

As notable as its robust design, the VPort 66-2MP's imaging prowess is equally impressive, adds Moxa. To provide situational awareness of a large area, the camera features 360° endless PAN enabling continuous following of a subject, TILT (-6° to 96°), and up to 30x optical zoom to capture the smallest of details such as a license plate. The camera's two-megapixel sensor delivers HDTV 1080p video resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps, high color fidelity and a 16:9 widescreen format. Multiple, individually configurable H.264 and MJPEG video can be streamed simultaneously, or a single stream can be deployed to monitor at 1960 x 1080 resolution at a staggering 60 fps. Image quality is further enhanced by Moxa's Image Stabilizing and Digital Noise Reduction technology.

Mercado noted that many visitors to Moxa's ISC booth expressed great interest in the camera's rugged design. He said that one visitor stated, "I'm extremely impressed by Moxa's engineering skill in wide temperature design and manufacturing. The cameras we've used before have all been prone to failure and need to be replaced or serviced at least several times a year. We will definitely be requesting a unit for testing when this goes into production." Mercado added that the VPort 66-2MP is scheduled for production on July 1, as Moxa completes final testing and certifications.
