Milestone Systems, provider of open-platform IP video management software (VMS), recently announced it will make its Milestone Husky series of network video recorders (NVRs) available in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions in Q2 and Q3 2014, respectively. The three models in the line—M10, M30 and M50—all are now available in the United States and Canada.

Milestone characterizes the Husky NVRs as “designed to fit any environment, even on a small retail shop’s shelf.” Milestone’s XProtect VMS is preinstalled in each appliance, and the company says the product line’s flexibility is its hallmark. “We have redefined the NVR concept by providing our customers with embedded surveillance solutions that are customizable and scalable,” said Lars Nordenlund, vice president of incubation and ventures at Milestone. “Milestone Husky has already had tremendous response in the market because the series makes it so easy to customize a solution that meets their specific needs—from a single-location flower shop to multi-site installations. Milestone Husky offers simple solutions with more than 50 preconfigured options.”

The series comprises three models, described by the company as follows.

• M10: “a very sleek and small fanless device ideal for entry-level surveillance and sites with no space for traditional IT equipment. The model supports up to 8 cameras.”
• M30: “designed for workstation installations with comprehensive surveillance needs; customizable and scalable for business growth … supports up to 20 cameras.”
• M50: “rack-mounted solution, feature-rich with unlimited options … perfect for advanced installations with sophisticated security needs … supports up to 80 cameras.”

Each NVR is ready to use, Milestone says, with automatic device discovery and wizards for configuring the entire system. Device license keys are preactivated. “Customers get instant and remote access to live and recorded video through a flexible choice of client interfaces: Milestone XProtect Smart Client [available with M30 and M50], XProtect Web Client or Milestone Mobile.” These features are available in 27 languages. For the M30 and M50, Milestone offers an online configurator aimed at simplifying the exploration of options.
