Axis Communications has released the Axis Q7411, a one-channel video encoder with video processing capabilities up to 60 frames per second (fps). Billed as "the perfect solution for analog CCTV installations migrating to IP video," the device is intended for applications with high demands for frame rate, image quality and performance, such as in casinos, manufacturing plants and law enforcement surveillance solutions.
Axis says the new Q7411 video encoder can deliver multiple, individually configured video streams simultaneously at full frame rate in all resolutions, and offers highly efficient H.264 video compression format in both Baseline and Main profiles, affording significant savings in bandwidth and storage. Support for 60 fps provides smooth video in high motion scenes and enables the user to closely follow details and observe deviations in the monitored area, which is of great importance during forensic investigations, notes the company.
Motion JPEG is also supported for increased flexibility. The device also supports key IP surveillance features such as two-way audio, configurable I/O ports, edge storage with the built-in microSD/microSDHC memory card slots, and Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). For significant installation savings, the video encoder also enables PTZ control over the coaxial cable, in addition to standard support for PTZ cameras using the serial ports.
The new video encoder also provides powerful event management capabilities with embedded intelligent video features such as tampering alarm, motion detection and audio detection, in addition to support for Axis Camera Application platform. Further, the Axis Q7411 is supported by the Axis Camera Station video management software as well as a large base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner program. The video encoder also includes support for hosted video, ONVIF and the Axis Camera Companion, which was recently upgraded to include support for audio, corridor format and public view monitors.
“The Axis Q7411 video encoder sets a new standard for single-channel video encoding performance,” comments Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications. “This new top-of-the line single-channel encoder complements our existing encoder portfolio and provides unmatched features and quality for about $100 less than our previous Q-Line single-channel encoders. We can thank Moore’s Law and dedication to R&D for that.”
The Axis Q7411 video encoder will be showcased at the upcoming ASIS International 2012 in booth #2622, and is expected to be available to order in October through Axis’ distribution channels at the suggested retail price of $499.
