Integrating megapixel cameras with video management systems

A partnership between Infinova and Video Insight eases the transition from analog to digital.

IP and analog camera manufacturer Infinova recently announced a partnership with video management system developer Video Insight, under which Infinova dealers and integrators will be able to provide their customers with use-map and floor-plan-based navigation to view live and recorded video.

Infinova VP of marketing Mark Wilson says the partnership enables dealers and integrators to take on more projects, specifically in markets like education, retail and transportation. "Using Infinova's IP and megapixel cameras in tandem with video integration software, even users planning to have existing analog cameras coexist with new digital models will be able to do so easily and efficiently," he said. "That's because both Video Insight software and many of Infinova's megapixel cameras support both analog and digital coexistence."

Video Insight CEO Robert Shaw says users of the integrated camera and management systems "will be able to match exactly the video hardware needed at each individual location in their facility." He adds that those using analog cameras will be able to migrate to IP surveillance in "a cost-managed way that extends the life of their existing system."
