TR-42.7 Engineering Committee issues call for interest for work on document ANSI/TIA-568.6, initially titled 'Single Pair Multi-Drop (SPMD) cabling and component specifications.'

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems (568) has issued a call for interest for document ANSI/TIA-568.6, initially titled, "Single Pair Multi-Drop (SPMD) cabling and component specifications."

Per the committee's call for interest, TR-42.7 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope:

"This ANSI/TIA Std for Single Pair Multi-Drop (SPMD) cabling and component specifications will address the need to support applications that use a bus topology with multiple branches connecting communication devices.

The standard includes cabling and component specifications in support of signal transmission and power delivery to the connected devices.

The standard will address common use case configurations, installation practices, testing, and administration.

The standard supports cabling networks for IOT/M2M devices and will incorporate input from building automation system providers interested in creating a generic flexible SPMD cabling network."

Per TIA, stakeholders for this work may include but are not limited to all users and manufacturers of telecommunications cabling systems. TIA is actively seeking participation on these projects from the user and general interest communities.
