Webinar Covers ICT Infrastructure in Smart Buildings

Oct. 12, 2023
Expert panel will explore connectivity, applications, as well as the need for assessment and qualification.

On Wednesday, October 25 at 11am EDT, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) in conjunction with Latam Red will host a webinar covering the critical role of information and communications technology (ICT) in smart buildings. The webinar, titled “The ICT Infrastructure Evolution in the Smart Buildings Industry” will be moderated by Lisa Schwartz, product marketing director with AEM Precision Cable Test. Schwartz will lead the discussion with panelists Carol Everett Oliver, CEO of CEO Communications; Betty Bezos, CEO of Bezos Technologies; and Marta Soncodi, smart buildings program director with the TIA.

Attendees will receive a technical overview of the evolution of the ICT cabling infrastructure technologies in the smart building industry, including a focus on the importance of design and installation methods. The panelists also will discuss standards and specifications identifying holistic assessment and qualification criteria for smart buildings.

BICSI has approved the seminar for 1 continuing education credit (CEC) toward the renewal of BICSI's professional credentials including the RCDD, DCDC, OSP, and RTPM.

The seminar’s technical content also will include an examination of copper and fiber connectivity systems, and how these communications systems are essential enabling platforms for application convergence—the hallmark of smart buildings. Panelists will discuss applications including fault managed power, passive optical LAN, and PoE lighting, describing why these technologies are complementary assets in a smart building.

The seminar is being delivered live, via Zoom, on October 25. You can register to attend here.
