Bicsi (Tampa, FL) has introduced cd-rom versions of its Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (tdmm) and LAN Design Manual. These cd-roms have the same text, diagrams, illustrations, tables, table of contents, glossary, and index as the hard-bound manuals, but make it easier to find what you need with your computer by using a key-word or string search. You can also use the cd-roms as study guides if you are planning to sit for the bicsi registered communications distribution designer (rcdd) or rcdd/lan Specialty designations.

The tdmm on cd-rom contains the complete overview of telecommunications distribution on one disk. It includes more than 600 diagrams, drawings, charts, and tables on topics such as horizontal cabling systems, building backbone systems, power distribution, grounding, bonding and electrical protection, electromagnetic compatibility, firestopping, optical-fiber technology, wireless systems, and sound systems.

The bicsi LAN Design Manual on cd-rom helps you understand and create local area networks (LANs). ARCnet, Ethernet, Token Ring, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), AppleTalk, and high-speed Ethernet are all presented in this reference tool and study guide. Included are topics such as LAN communications standards, technologies and design overview, Token Ring design, backbone design review, ATM networking, internetworking devices, and LAN software and management.

The tdmm and lan manual on cd-rom conform to the ISO-9660 standard, and the contents are in portable document format (PDF). All PDF files are indexed, allowing for full-text searches across single or multiple PDF files at once.

For more information, call bicsi at (800) 242-7405, or fax (813) 971-4311.
