Available for free download, the document covers TIA-1179, TIA-942-A and IEEE-802.3at PoE Plus.

A new document available from Cabling Installation & Maintenance compiles some of the recent standards-creating activities of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) as well as specifications put forth by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) that are likely to impact structured cabling systems.

It includes feature-length articles that discuss the recently published TIA-1179 standard addressing cabling in healthcare environments, the currently-under-development TIA-942-A specifications that will update the TIA's original data center cabling standard; and the IEEE 802.3at specs defining Power over Ethernet Plus.

The guide is sponsored by Siemon and also includes a paper authored by that company entitled "De-mystifying Cabling Specifications." It is available for download to anyone who registers.
