CommScope to instruct on 40-, 100-GbE data center technologies at Ethernet Technology Summit

Feb. 8, 2012
Presentation will discuss key considerations including cabling bandwidth, reach, connectors, and end-user adoption.

CommScope announced that its technical marketing manager for enterprise communications infrastructure solutions,Yinglin (Frank) Yang, will speak about 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) technology during the upcoming Ethernet Technology Summit (Feb. 21 - 23) in San Jose, CA.

Yang will teach a course during the Summit's morning tutorial entitled, 40/100GbE is Alive and Well on Wednesday, February 22. Yang’s course, titled Cabling for Next Generation BASE-T, will start with an overview of 10GBASE-T and 40/100GbE technologies. The course will discuss some research results on balanced twisted pair copper cabling for Ethernet speeds beyond 10Gb/s. The presentation will further discuss key considerations, such as cabling bandwidth, reach, connector and performance for 40GBASE-T. The course will conclude by enumerating ways industry should work together to help with end-user adoption of 10GBASE-T technologies and beyond. The morning tutorial will begin at 8:30 a.m. PST.

Yang will conclude the day by participating a final tutorial entitled, Ethernet and Virtualization (Data Centers Track). Collaborating with Gautam Chanda from Cisco Systems, Yang will co-present on a course entitled, Utilize 40GbE and 100GbE Networking Technology to Build Virtualized Data Centers. This course will discuss when and how 40GbE will become an accepted part of the IT landscape. It will focus on how CIOs and IT managers will handle high-bandwidth applications using server virtualization, cloud computing and fabric consolidation within the data center. The course will also address the move to 40GbE and 100GbE, how it may change the network architecture in virtualized data centers, and what IT managers can do now to prepare to migrate to the new standards and network architecture. This tutorial will begin at 3:10 p.m. PST.

Yang will also lead and organize the afternoon session of the Summit's Emerging Technology Track tutorial at 3:10 p.m. PST. For more on the Ethernet Technology Summit, visit http://www.ethernetsummit.com/.
