IP video on your iPhone? There's an app for that

April 19, 2010
A free download from Edimax enables video-over-iPhone viewing.

Edimax, along with Genius Computer Technology, recently unveiled an application that allows users to access IP surveillance feeds through an iPhone (OS 2.2 or later), iPod Touch, or iPad. The app (downloadable for free here) is appropriate for use with the Edimax eCam camera range, which is targeted to do-it-yourselfers as well as small business owners, with what Edimax calls a simple setup and application. Users connect the Edimax camera to their network; insert the camera name, password, and IP address; and place it at the location they want to view. The eCam allows users to adjust image frame rate and choose VGA or QVGA mode.

"We've received a lot of positive feedback on the Edimax eCam range, especially from small business owners because of its affordability and ease of use," said Greg Jan, managing director of Edimax Australia. "The eCams offer customers the latest technology at the most competitive pricing and that's something we've been pretty excited about."
