iBwave Solutions provides design software for in-building wireless systems including DAS.

Corning Incorporated has acquired iBwave Solutions Inc., a provider of design-software systems for in-building wireless systems including distributed antenna systems (DAS). iBwave, which has been called “the AutoCAD of the RF [radio frequency] world,” is based on Montreal, Canada. Its design software is used by system integrators as well as end-user organizations. The image on this page is a screen-shot from an iBwave design tool.

Corning offers the MobileAccess DAS system; Corning acquired then-standalone company MobileAccess in 2011.

In a release announcing the acquisition—financial terms of which were not disclosed—Corning said iBwave’s “software and professional services are used by more than 600 global leading telecom operators, system integrators, and equipment manufacturers in more than 80 countries.”

iBwave will operate under its current name, from its Montreal headquarters and under its existing leadership, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Corning. iBwave will report to Corning’s Optical Communications business segment. Clark S. Kinlin, executive vice president of Corning Optical Communications, commented, “iBwave is a world-leading resource for inside-building wireless design. We are pleased to welcome this experienced team to Corning.”
