Netgear's AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Range Extender targets HD video streaming and gaming.

Netgear (NASDAQ: NTGR) has announced the availability of its new AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender (EX6100) which supports older a/b/g/n Wi-Fi devices, while providing additional performance to the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi devices.

Netgear says the AC750 boosts an existing network's range and speed, delivering AC dual band Wi-Fi up to 750 Mbps; the range extender is designed to deliver next-generation Wi-Fi performance for new mobile devices demanding high Wi-Fi throughout. The extender works with any standard Wi-Fi router and is intended to enable advanced HD video streaming and gaming applications. It supports connectivity with iPads, smartphones, laptops and other advanced wireless devices such as game consoles and smart TVs.

The company contends that the extender is an ideal means of improving the range of a home network and eliminating frustrating Wi-Fi dead zones. The Wi-Fi range extenders support the Netgear FastLane technology, which uses both Wi-Fi bands simultaneously to establish one super-fast wireless connection that is ideal for HD video streaming and gaming. Additionally, consumers can use the free Netgear Wi-Fi Analytics app for Android tablets and smartphones to optimize their home network with information about their network status, signal strength, and channel interference.

Netgear bills the compact AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender as "the first wall-plug extender delivering dual-band 802.11ac performance to maximize network speed for older a/b/g/n Wi-Fi devices, while providing up to 750 Mbps to the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi devices. It is outfitted with dual external antennas boosting range and improving Wi-Fi speeds. With its uniquely stylish, compact wall-plug design that is effortless to install, it can be discreetly plug it into any electrical outlet. Smart LED indicator lights on the front of the extender guides to an optimal location for best Wi-Fi coverage."

The company notes that, in addition to extending a home network, the extender can also be used as an access point by creating a new Wi-Fi hotspot when a wired Internet connection is plugged in. The available Gigabit port on the AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender can be used as a Wi-Fi bridge, ideal for connecting a device such as a Blu-ray player, game console, or smart TV to the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, at a fraction of the cost of proprietary Wi-Fi adapters.

The Netgear AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender (EX6100) is currently available with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from authorized Netgear distributors in India.
