Telecom enclosure provides indoor/outdoor security and convenience

Good for wireless access points as well as data and power cables, Oberon's 1025-00 stands tough against the elements.

The Model 1025-00telecom enclosure from Oberon Inc. accommodates telecommunications and wireless networking equipment both indoors and out. The wireless enclosure features a fiberglass NEMA 4 construction, which the company says is ideal for use in outside as well as other challenging environments.

The telecom enclosure is made of 30 percent fiberglass reinforced polyester, Oberon explains, and is essentially transparent to radio frequency signals. That makes the enclosure ideal for wireless access points with non-detachable antennas. Two holes in the enclosure's bottom accommodate data and power cables and Oberon says with proper sealing, the 1025-00 is NEMA-4 rated for outdoor use. With a light gray finish, it provides aesthetic benefit as well as security and convenience.

It includes a weather-resistant lock, interior mounting plate, neoprene door seal and exterior tabs for mounting on a wall. It is UL-listed and also tested to UL508-4X requirements.

Wireless and telecom enclosures like this one provide an additional layer of network security by covering wireless access points with a locked-door panel that easily swings open for those with keyed access. They are used in office buildings, hospitals, conference centers, hotels, educational institutions and other venues, Oberon says.
