How the world's largest cable manufacturer decided not to participate in the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building technology.

STORY UPDATE (2/28) -- Per a statement issued on 2/24/20 by the tradeshow's organizers: "In view of the increasing spread of the coronavirus in Europe and after intensive consultations, Messe Frankfurt has decided to postpone Light + Building 2020. The world's leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology will now be held in Frankfurt am Main between the middle and end of September 2020. "

According to the Messe Frankfurt website, the new dates for Light + Building 2020 will be from Sept. 27 - October 2, 2020.

The BU Multimedia Solutions unit of Prysmian Group announced that the company has cancelled its participation in the Light + Building 2020 trade show, being held in Frankfurt, Germany from Mar. 8-13, due to the growing public health risks posed by the Coronavirus.

Following a comprehensive internal risk assessment, the world's largest cable manufacturer said in a statement that it "has decided decided to take precautions and cancel its participation in the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building technology this year [as] the health and safety of [its] employees, customers, and partners take precedence over economic considerations."

"This is very unfortunate -- but we are firmly convinced that the most responsible corporate decision now is to ensure the highest possible protection for our co-workers," commented Llyr Roberts, Global Vice President of BU Multimedia Solutions, Prysmian Group.

If it participated in the event, the cable manufacturer would not be able to guarantee the health and safety of its employees and visitors, it said. Prysmian is a public company, listed on the Italian Stock Exchange in the FTSE MIB index. Learn more at http://www.prysmiangroup.com.
