10GBase-T-to-10G-SFP+ media converter

Antaira Technologies, which manufactures industrial networking devices for use in harsh-environment applications, recently introduced the FCU-6001-SFP+ media converter. The converter is equipped with one 10G/5G/2.5G/1GBase-T autonegotiation port and one 10GBase-X SFP+ slot.

The media converter “supports 10-Gigabit Ethernet media conversion from copper 10GBase-T to multimode or singlemode, using 10GBase-SR or 10GBase-LR SFP+ transceiver installed in the SFP+ slot to extend distances to servers, switches, and patch panels,” Antaira said. “The deployment distance can be extended from 300 meters with multimode to up to 60 kilometers with singlemode,” the company added.

The FCU-6001-SFP+ media converter is designed for use in network environments where 10-Gbit Ethernet bandwidth is required; Antaira said those environments can include data centers, cloud-computing environments, enterprise backbones, campus networks, and carrier networks.

It supports chassis as well as wall-mountable orientations. Its operating temperature range is 0 to +50 degrees Celsius.
