100G NIC module solves for COVID-19 network capacity issues

To meet current network demands for faster speeds, Nexcom's NC 220FMS3 module provides a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface and two QSFP28 ports.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, where the ability to work from home has become an absolute necessity, Nexcom (Taiwan) says it can now help telecom providers and data centers across the world virtualize and expand capacity via its new NC 220FMS3 100GbE NIC module.

To meet current network demands for faster speeds, the NC 220FMS3 module provides a PCIe3.0 x16 interface and two QSFP28 ports, each supporting 100Gb/s Ethernet connectivity. The module provides high-speed connectivity without any packet loss, says Nexcom.

Further, the integration of Mellanox ConnectX-5's Accelerated Switching and Packet Processing (ASAP2) technology within the module boosts offloading of virtual switches and routers, enhancing data transfer performance without overloading the CPU.

The new module provides end users with higher bandwidth and throughput and reduces bottleneck issues, states the manufacturer. To highlight the benefits of using Nexcom's 100GbE card for telecom purposes, the video below compares current IT data flow to today's "big city" traffic, illustrating the need for sufficient hardware.

The video then demonstrates the 100GbE NIC's actual lab test results and excellent throughput performance, especially when paired with Nexcom's high-performance NSA 7146 network appliance.
