Omnitron intros 10Gig/100W Ethernet PoE switches

The OmniConverter 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches feature Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability up to 100W.

Omnitron Systems, a provider of Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and fiber network connectivity products, has introduced its next generation of OmniConverter 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch products with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability up to 100W.

The company's new compact 10 Gigabit 6- and 10-port Ethernet switches feature managed and unmanaged models with two Small Form Pluggable (SFP) 10 Gigabit fiber-optic uplink ports and four or eight (8) 10/100-Mbit to 1-Gigabit copper Ethernet access ports with no PoE, or with the IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standard-based 30, 60 or 100 Watts PoE per port.

“In addition to saving space and increased flexibility with their compact size, the OmniConverter 10G PoE switches offer a turnkey solution for edge networks that are faced with escalating bandwidth and high power requirements,” notes Sankar Ramachandran, director of product management at Omnitron Systems.

Intended to be used in critical infrastructure applications powering Wi-Fi access points, small cells, IP surveillance cameras and a variety of enterprise and industrial equipment, Omnitron says its 10G PoE products support self-healing and protection features such as Link Aggregation, Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and Industrial Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP).

The new switch models can be managed via any standard Web browser, Omnitron’s SNMP NetOutlook management software, or any SNMP interface. The switches' device management capability facilitates monitoring and scheduling features, as well as Powered Device (PD) heart-beat monitoring and automatic PD restart as required. Event notification is done via SNMP traps and email messages.

Omnitron's Ramachandran added, “As many of the latest Wi-Fi access points, small cells and IP surveillance cameras require more than 60W of PoE power, the OmniConverter switches unique ability to deliver high-power PoE from 60-100W on all 1G access ports gives network operators and enterprise network administrators a solution to overcome the bandwidth and high power demands at the network edge. Omnitron’s newly introduced 10G PoE switches are ideal for bandwidth critical networks with a strict no-oversubscription bandwidth requirement.”

The OmniConverter 10G Ethernet Switches and PoE Switches are available in managed models (10G/M, 10GPoE+/M and 10GPoEBT/M) or unmanaged models (10G/Sx, 10GPoE+/Sx and 10GPoEBT/Sx). The switch models can be shelf, wall and DIN rail mounted; these models are available at commercial (0 to 50°C), wide (-40 to 60°C) and extended (-40 to 75°C) operating temperatures.

Finally, the OmniConverter 10G Ethernet switches and PoE switches are designed and manufactured in the USA. They are TAA compliant and feature a limited 5-Year Warranty and 24/7 technical support. Learn more at www.omnitron-systems.com.
