GAO Fiber Optics has released a new modular, plug-and-play 10/100/1000 Base-TX copper UTP to 1000 Base-FX fiber media converter.

GAO Fiber Optics (Toronto) has released its modular, plug-and-play 10/100/1000 Base-TX copper UTP to 1000 Base-FX fiber media converter, model C0310001, which works with both singlemode and multimode optical fiber and supports transmission distances of up to 80 km for singlemode and 550 m for multimode spans. The media converter operates at a wavelength of 1310/1550 nm in singlemode fiber WDM and 850 nm in multimode via SFP port. It also supports automatic cross of twisted pair ports and auto selection of MDI/MDI-X. The device is commonly used in backbone network transmission and is primarily used for Gigabit Ethernet device links.

The converter complies with IEEE 10/100Base-TX, IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX standards. It leverages intelligent connection technology to enable auto-negotiation, thereby eliminating the need to manually configure or monitor settings. An RJ45 port is provided to perform auto-negotiation under full-duplex and half-duplex transmission modes. Moreover, the media converter is equipped with alarm LED to indicate link failure and status LEDs for easy monitoring of the device’s status.
