FNT Software and DC Smarter Team Up With GSI Hemholtz Center to Improve Data Center Operations

March 26, 2024
The testing of DC Smarter and FNT Software’s latest solution shows marked improvement in data center operations and efficiency.

FNT Software and DC Smarter are collaborating with the GSI Hemholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Germany. Evaluations will be made in the center to gain insights into operational efficiency and energy in the OpenLab of the Green IT Cube on the GSI/FAIR campus.

The companies will provide all the components and connections of the data center infrastructure through a digital twin. “The FNT Command platform forms the data basis and enables intuitive, interactive access and inventory management of the entire data center in real time.” DC Smarter’s DC Vision Augmented Reality (AR) gives technical teams on-site resource and operating processes transparency which allows them to use energy resources in an optimal and sustainable way that will reduce overall energy consumption.

“GSI has utilized FNT Command to map all assets and connections of the Green IT Cube within a digital twin. By integrating DC Smarter's AR technology, the digital twin now also serves as the basis for further research and development of strategies for increasing efficiency in the data center sector.” The companies’ solution optimizes imperative data center tasks like remote hand services, visual inspections, and documentation management all within the Green IT Cube OpenLab.

As the research develops the solution has been shown to improve operational efficiency through real-time data access and inventory management. This allows managers to reduce downtime and errors as they can make data-driven choices and note problems early on.

Some of the benefits of the FNT Command and DC Vision solution are reduction of downtime by 76% at most, savings in operating costs for field staff by up to 54%, reduction of rework in data centers by a maximum of 75%, and more.
