The 1993 Atlantic hurricane season was rated below average, producing 8 tropical cyclones and storms and 4 hurricanes, one of them major. The most intense, Emily, was a Category 3 on the Saffir–Simpson Hurricane Scale and paralleled the North Carolina coastline, causing minor damage and several deaths before moving out to sea.
