Legrand acquiring intelligent PDU manufacturer Server Technology

Describing the acquisition as a ‘bolt-on,’ Legrand says it’s adding intelligent PDU technology to its data center portfolio of cabinets, PDUs, KVM switches and preterminated cabling systems.

Legrand announced on June 22 it will acquire Server Technology Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of intelligent PDU technologies and products for data centers. The acquisition is subject to standard conditions, the company said.

“Legrand is already present in the data center market through companies specializing in voice/data/image cabinets (Ortronics, Electrorack and AFCO Systems group in the U.S.; Aegide/Minkels in the Netherlands, SJ Manufacturing in Singapore and Valrack in India), in PDUs as well as KVM switches and their applications (Raritan in the U.S.), and in preterminated solutions (Lastar/Quiktron in the U.S.),” Legrand stated. “The group thus rounds out its product offering in the buoyant data center market by adding Server Technology Inc.’s range of intelligent PDUs.”

The company added that it is “strengthening its presence in the growing market for digital infrastructure—one of the group’s four buoyant new business segments [along with energy efficiency, assisted living and home systems], driven by the rise in data flow volumes, linked in particular to growth in connected objects and rising demand for ever-more energy-saving solutions.”

Legrand did not disclose terms of the sale but said Server Technology employs approximately 200 and has annual revenues exceeding $110 million.
