Tempo Communications says its Drop Fiber Repair Kit saves technicians time and money by simplifying fiber-optic cable repairs.
Tempo Communications has introduced its Drop Fiber Repair Kit (DFR100), which the company says conveniently and cost-effectively allows fiber technicians to repair and protect fiber-optic cables.
The IP68-rated DFR100 houses and protects up to 12 fusion splices and two mechanical splices in a secure plastic casing that can be buried or mounted for future re-work.
“This Drop Fiber Repair Kit is really a game-changer for the fiber technician,” asserts Keith Foord, fiber instruments product manager with Tempo Communications.
Foord continues, “It can handle up to 14 splices and ensures they are safely protected either underground, on the side of a building, or pole mounted. After the initial install, a technician can re-enter the DFR100 to address future issues and be confident that the enclosed cables will remain protected afterwards.”
The DFR100 supports common fiber sizes of 8.1 mm, 5.4 mm, and 5.1 mm rectangular cables and 5.1 mm round cables with provided individual sealing gaskets.
The plastic casing can be easily assembled with common tools; its IP68 rating ensures that the enclosed spliced will be safe from dirt, moisture and the elements.
